ROMSEY SHOW: TRADE STANDS
An unusual shopping experience that promises plenty of people with money to spend and time to browse is a rare phenomenon in these cash-strapped times.
But that is exactly what the Romsey Show will be offering traders when more than 25,000 people pour onto the Broadlands Park showground on Saturday, September 14th to enjoy one of the best one-day agricultural shows in the country.
Suppliers who are lucky enough to secure one of the 500-plus trade stands (and there is always a waiting list by mid-summer) can look forward to a steady stream of customers who are prepared to shop ’til they drop – and some are even armed with Christmas wish lists!
Traders selling such diverse products as pocket money toys for children to shiny new tractors and luxurious holiday homes abroad have all reported good sales and many come back year after year.
One veteran praised last year’s show, saying “nothing was too much trouble for organisers”, while a newcomer said it was “well planned, prepared and delivered.”
The Food Zone, which attracts a mouth-watering array of local producers selling seasonal produce, has a slightly higher tariff and does not benefit from the early bird discount but prices have been held from last year to encourage bookings.
Said show secretary Annie Carder: “Booking a trade stand at the Romsey Show really does make good business sense in today’s economic climate. It’s a wonderful venue and a great day out for both the buyer and the seller who, for a small capital outlay, can spread the word about their product to a wide range of people.”
